Ramp Rage!

Coldwater, Michigan’s public access site has 2 ramps divided by a dock. As we approached the ramp coming in from the lake, the left side had a 16-18’ bow rider in the water. The right side was launching with 3 deep in line to go in, so being a considerate boater I waited for the crew on the left to vacate. Not So Fast. Two bimbo’s, and a Fat Rotweiller are in the process of loading a huge cooler which they just walked to the vessel from the boyfriend’s truck. They barely lift the enormous cooler in and now the boat s transom floating out (not tied off). The two genius bimbo’s successfully turn the boat completely around, transom to the ramp. The right side is launching swiftly, and we are now 20 minutes waiting. Now the Bozo that dropped off the bimbo’s arrives with a Flea Jet in tow, (Must have gone back to get it) and backs in the left ramp, further complicating this mess. A guy who pulled in after the original 3 waiting to launch when we arrived waves us in, and we gladly accept. We dock, I go get the trailer, back in and as I go to load the boat I see the Flea Jet Bozo, trying to jump starting the boat from the Flea Jet with his bimbos giggling and the tow still sitting there. The dump a$$ asks me if he can use my truck battery to start his boat???? Evidently the guy that waved us in was not interested in helping them. Either was I. RAMP RAGE! If my wife wasn’t there, I think my answer would have included a large number of four-letter words that would have made a sailor blush.

Re: Ramp Rage!

Darned annoying. Yesterday, at my favorite lake, about a dozen boats were lined up to retrieve in the afternoon. It's a two-ramp launch, with courtesy docks on both sides of the ramp.

Most folks here dock on the outside of the courtesy ramp, then get in line with their trailer, and move the boat around to load after their trailer is in the water. Not yesterday.

Some yahoo had tied up his boat on the outside of the right ramp, then disappeared, blocking that side of the ramp. So...now...everyone coming in on that side had to dock on the inside of the dock, which slows everyone down a few minutes.

I guess he thought he could just leave his boat there most of the afternoon, since a couple of fishermen fishing near the ramp told me that the boat had been there for a couple of hours already.

It's a testament to the patience of Minnesota boaters that the boat didn't somehow get untied and drift off.

Other than that, the ramp stuff went very smoothly for a weekend. No disasters and no really stupid boaters...except for that one guy.

Re: Ramp Rage!

You should have helped him

Because he would have gotten out on the water with a dead battery!

He probably would still be out there right now waiting for someone to come by in a boat with jumper cables....
