The basics: 2003 Bayliner 185 with 3.0L Mercruiser with about 130 hours on it.
The engine temperature gauge worked fine on our maiden voyage on 4/21/10.
Went out on 4/24/10 and the wife accidently got to close to shore and we ran aground at a very moderate speed. I raised the out drive to free us and now the temperature gauge won't go above 105 degrees. I don't know what the water temperature is, maybe mid 50's but I doubt my engine in running that cool. Did running aground cause crap to get sucked into the inlets and clog/foul the temp sensor? If it was clogged/fouled wouldn't it actually run hot? Can I flush/clean out the engine? If so, how. I can also order a new temp sensor and swap it out if necessary.
What are your thoughts?
