Favorite Star Treks.

1. Voyager. Hard choice over TNG, but Voyager didn't have to go through that weird beginning phase where they tried too hard to make aliens mysterious. It felt like it found it's stride much quicker, but later episodes weren't quite as good.

2. Next Generation. Early episodes were really goofy. They tried way too hard to emphasize just how different and mysterious the aliens were. Mostly the Ferengi, with their pure white backgrounds in transmissions ro their weird tendency to just be constantly writhing around like 6 inches away from other characters. Really shows in the Episode where Tasha Yar dies. However, once it had a bit of time to grow, the stories were absolutely top notch.

3. Original Series. I admit, I haven't seen many of these, but I can appreciate how ahead of their time they were. Not just in their ideas of future technology, but ideas of alien life. I imagine the idea of silicon based life, resulting in what is essentially living rocks, was pretty inspired. Also, tribbles are nuts.

4. Deep Space 9. Again, I haven't seen many, but this series got really into political and spy stuff.

-1. Star Trek Enterprise. A few good episodes, good characters, but absolute garbage because of the time travel nonsense. There are no good time travel plots because the bad guys did time travel so the good guys fix it with time travel but then the bad guys do time travel again and it's just an absolute circle of nonsense.

In conclusion, I need to watch more star trek, and try to skip all the time travel episodes of Enterprise if I ever go back to it.

DS9 was a bit too dark for me but intellectually i know it was good.

TNG for me all the way, but if you want awkward do watch the OS - it was rooted int he 60's culture and it shows. Same with TNG in the 80s but i think they did a better job than OS.

I ws really hoping SA with Holly Hunter was going to make it. I have not seen any yet, I was going to dive in at the beginning of season three and watch all at once.

Still need to watch S3 of Picard.

I like that Jim Kirk had a pet wookie on 2001 space Odyssey, and the death star on Hitchhikers guide was pretty cool ๐Ÿคฎ๐Ÿ˜†
