Rank /cadet or Capt.

OK... this may seem like a dumb question but I am new to this site. my question is-- under my name my rank says "Cadet",and under other members the ranks are different, is this because of how long they have been a member on this site, or does your rank go up the more you post on here?.....lol.. I know dumb, but I don't know & was curious. I consider my self a cap't, since I have been on the water for several years, and I do mean on a boat. could someone let me know.

when you pass a certain, point, you get to choose you rank name. Don chose Oracle.

I really think the rank is irrelevant, it's the passed on knowledge that counts. Even someone like me who is not a professional boater can pass on experience of problems and how they were solved (often with the help of iboats crew such as Rodbolt) to those that have just had a similar issue with their boat/outboard. Cheers!

Actually none of the reasons you have heard are fact.

In true nautical fashion all persons holding the rank of "Cadet" must buy the ranking crew drinks until promoted...hope you brought your credit card.

And the higher the rank, the more the post padding, er, uh, I mean the more power to raise your rank, so start buying, son, start buying!
