First, I realize this is a web forum not a military organization.

But I noticed the insignia for Senior Chief has 2 stars. Haven't come across the one for Master Chief so don't know what it looks like yet.

I'm actually retired AF and noticed it. Wander if the navy guys did?

Re: Rank Insignia

This has been discussed many times, there is even a thread somewhere that explains the rank.

Looking at all of them I think I can see the reason. Looks like placing a single star above the top rocker would be an issue with height.

Gues I should mention I live across the street from a retired Master Chief.

And since you brought it up, Petty Officer, now you're on duty all weekend. And yes, I can order that since I outrank you. At least I didn't say drop and give me 100.

I love how you work your way up to Master Chief only to get busted all the way down to a lowly Ensign at 900 posts.

Be careful there. Way back in time, I was reminded by the XO of our submarine that even though I was vastly more experienced and qualified than the new ensign, it was inappropriate for me to refer to my new division officer as "a pimply faced, lower than whale crap, target riding, skimmer puke, and a non-qual dink to boot". The XO went on to remind me that I really didn't want the Captain to get wind of this. Needless to say, I learned my lesson. Believe it or not, I even got to like the guy later on :D

You think my Brother-In-Law, CDR Heritage, USN, would recognize my Vice Admiral rank on Iboats and follow my orders? ;)

Back as a young airman our Chief Master Sargeant came in the shop one day and barked "somebody get supply on the phone". Stupidly I asked why. His response: "Someone left a defective 2LT in my office and he wanted it replaced".

Oh, yes, Brian. We swabbies noticed, and we posted about it.

Not only are the CPO, Sr. CPO and Master CPO incorrect when compared to USN, Commodore is left out and all of the Admirals are also incorrect.

My current attitude is, "So what? Those are iboats ranks, not USN ranks."

Re: Rank Insignia

It's iboats rank, has nothing to do with any US military rank.
