I've been having problems with my boat having excess pressure on the circulating hoses. I took the boat out and run it yesterday, the temperature would jump up to 180 in only a few seconds, would return to 160 at idle. I've called a local volvo penta dealer and they said the raw water pump was bad, it was not supplying the engine with enough water to properly cool it. I've removed the pump to inspect. The impeller appears to be in good shape, however it looks like it is rubbing the back of the housing. You can see it in the picture below. It shouldnt be doing this should it? Also I have a drip coming from the exposed area of the shaft between the pulley and the pump housing, on this shaft there is an o-ring exposed. Is this right? Can be seen in picture.
