My ds600x was fogging up so I sent it in to Raymarine for repair. They sent it back saying they checked for moisture damage and there was none. They treated inside with antifog and added dessecants.I was under the impression that these were sealed units so I called and asked someone who was some kind of boss and they told me these aren't gas filled or sealed and that they would cost 20,000 dollers if they were. When I told him my Garmin gps that sits right next to it has never fogged he didn't say anything.
Has anyone experienced fogging with these units or had a similar experience?
I can't help but think I'm getting the runaround.

Any advise or comments will be appreciated.
Thanks
Dan

Sounds like a runaround to me too.

I just purchased a Standard Horizons VHF. It lists it as WATERPROOF and warranties it for 3 years as WATERPROOF. My buddy just bought a Raymarine VHF with the same warranty I do believe. You should be able to spray them off with freshwater after a trip and it be no problem. Thats what they told both of us. You need to call someone else and get satisfaction. If moisture gets in there.... you could be in for trouble.

I just looked at the brochure and it says it's submersible to 1 meter for thirty minutes.

It performs great.I'm totally happy with it other than the fogging. The screen is great under all light conditions and although I haven't gotten too far past running it on auto I'm impressed with the way it shows fish and structure.
I'm pi$$ed they didn't just send me a new one.

Re: raymarine ds600x

I talked to raymarine again today and convinced them to replace my unit. The guy I spoke to wasn't too happy doing it and said it would just be a unit that had antifog and dessecant added.
Whether that means they are adding this to new units or the one they plan on returning to me is a refubished (one someone already returned)I don't know.I'm not sure if its worth the cost of shipping at this point. The guy said there is a one way valve that lets condensation out but not in.This makes it submersible but the difference in temp from the air in the unit to the air outside causes condensation.Meaning if you take the unit out of a cool cabin and put in the direct sun it fogs.Kind of makes sense but its still a drag.

I have several radios and I use them summer and winter hot and cold and never had one fog up at all.

If it is just the lcd screen I guess your could turn on the light to produce some heat and dry it out.
