Model no BE60TLEOC 1995 3 cylinder .

My engine at the moment is running sweet
but i have a Identical almost complete spare engine that has scored bore and a badly chewed up piston.

im thinking about a complete re-build of the block over the winter/spring period and wondering what the cost might be.

Also i need to know if its best to use original omc/Brp parts or other makes of stuff for this project.

i am hoping the bore can be taken out enough to go past the scores, but if not can this block be sleeved ?

i will be checking the crank to make sure its not oval and in good condition.

the scored bore is the middle of the 3 and is pretty bad to be honest, i just hope not too bad and the block junk.

the cylinder head i will have skimmed after i polish the inside of the compression chamber to get rid of any marks left by the broken ring/piston.

the damage was caused by either no cooling or no oil, i am 99.9% the vro on this engine had gone bad or got blocked.
I of the rods for sure is bad as its gone rusty since being taken out and left in a box.

so ill probably be looking for 1 rod 3 pistons and rings plus ofcourse all new bearings for the crank while its down.

are wiseco as good as oem or better ?
is the block ok for sleeving ?
i think i can get 40 thou oversize at a push, is this the very max ?

The '95 OMC 3 cyl mtr had a lot of probs blowing # 2 cyl. There are OMC service bulletins out there that spoke of modifactions on what to do if you rebuild one of these mtrs. I think it was in '96 OMC came out with a different style block, but I may be wrong.

Aftermarket is just as good or better...BRP pistons are made in south america (hint hint)

Yep.....

Dont waste your time, just make sure surface is flat and no metal particles embedded in head as the dents/dings/potmarks will fill in with carbon....

Old wifes tale...if VRO went bad it would have got all 3 cylinders and if cooling the others would show some sort of damage or scuffing also.

Stay with a cast piston.. I am not a Wiseco fan.

Yes and Yes... Make sure you get the cylinders checked to see if they are out of round or worn, anything over .003 out of spec will need to be taken to next size. The problem with this year is the bridged port exhaust as if engine ran the slightest bit warm (impeller/t-stat) the bridge would heat up and ease into exhaust side of piston and the rest of the damaged followed . OMC had 2 types of impellers, one was 3 vane that increased water volume thru powerhead and the regular impeller. Also a relocation of the "P" elbow to reduce chance of airpocket in block and carb jet increases to add more fuel to cool piston. Anytime I rebuild one of these for a customer I do a exhaust bridge port modification. I take my porting tool and sand the bridge down about .0005 and never had any problems reoccur. This trick was giving to me by a tech at Riverside Marine in Ar as they supplied the remanned powerheads for OMC/BRP warranty's..

What are you expecting to pay Phill to have the cylinders rebored? Just curious as i was enquiring over here a while back and my nearest place won't do 1 cylinder as they believe it'll be out of balance and will only do all 3. Cost though is only €50 per cyl so couldn't complain.

No it won't be out of balance. Omc has said for yrs you can bore one cyl only and it won't be out of balance. I used to do it all the time.
