I have an 18ft Key west stealth Flats boat. I deck is shouwing its age and I would like to have it spruced up with a new layer of Gel Coat. Can anyone give me a idea of the coast of having a new layer of gel coat put on it. The interior does not need any repair work to it (besides new Gel coat). Just trying to get a ball park figure. Thanks

Re: Re-Gel Coat

We're mostly DIY'ers here on the forum sooooo... Most of us would prolly wipe er down with Acetone and Roll our own fresh coat of Gelcoat, at least I would.;)

Is it colored gel coat or just white gel coat? I think colored is much more expensive and harder to match - if it needs to be matched.

We would need to see some pics and get a better description of just what you want refinished. Re-doing the non skid portion is comparatively easy and won't cost that much depending on exactly what you want it to look like. The smooth mold finish portion could cost a couple thousand to do.

Its white Gel coat I guess the only thing keeping me from doing it myself is....I have never done it and I have never seen a homemade job to see what it looks like. I would hate to do it myself and it not look good.

Re: Re-Gel Coat

with gelly coat....what you see is what you get....

that is kinda like concrete.....the way it sets...is the way it stays.

the good thing is.....that if you want to make it shiney smooth like the sides of your boat.....it just takes a little sanding.

as ondarvr mentioned...that textured criss cross kinda finish will take some doing.
