When I added an hour meter to our toon I called the mfg. and they sent me a complete wiring diagram for my boat. Try calling yours and see if they will do the same for yours.

good luck.

Welcome to iboats mike.

On a project like this I think starting over is your best move, if what you can see it is that jacked up who knows what you can't see and if you start fresh you know you won't have problems down the road, people do some funny things to boats.

I think wach manufacturer uses thie own color system as in there is no color wire for a livewell pump or light, red is hot and black is ground, beyond that it could be anything.

If your switch panel is rusted you are in for one of them right out of the gate and I wouldn't pull any wires until you get the new one, I also found it really handy to mark the wires with a masking tape flag and label with switch and location i.e. Livewell pump-top, before you take them off cause after you get 5-10 wires pulled it is anyone geuss what they were originally hooked to.

They have switch panels here at iboats and the prices are very very good and the service unbeatable.

Go to the top of the ELECTRICAL forum and look at the generic boat wiring diagrams. Most recreational follow that wiring scheme. Use the parts you want and ignore those you don't. There is a marine wire color code. Whether you follow it or not depends on how "politically correct" you want to be. For sure you want +12 volt buss to be red and ground to be black. Beyond that the electricity doesn't care what color the wires are. The fellow (including you) that needs to troubleshoot problems down the road would probably care to know what's what!

I can't find that ELECTRICAL forum that has the generic boat wiring diagram. I need one for an 1989 Sun Tracker Bass Buggy.

Go here: http://forums.iboats.com/forumdisplay.php?f=23 Then look at the stickies at the very top of the forum. You will see one that says Generic Boat Wiring Diagram. Oh heck -- here's the diagram -- and you don't need one for your exact boat. This has everything you need. Use the parts you need -- ignore what you don't.
