Gents,

My x 51 transducer broke just before the bracket. I ordered a replacement transducer. I was thinking the only way to re-wire this unit was to cut the old transducer from the wire, tape the plug end to the wire and pull it through. However it looks like a tight fit and it it gets hung up inside the the boat where I can't reach...could be trouble.

Any thoughts or advice on this would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Kid

Re: Re-wiring transducer

I'd loop the cut cable around the new connector and back onto itself. Then using electrical tape form a bullet nose over the junction. You could also spray the junction with silicone spray. The other option would be to use an electrical fish tape or cut the connector off the old transducer cable and use the cable to pull a strong nylon cord down to the bracket. Then use the cord to pull the new connector through the cable chase to the display.

Nav

I tend to like the bullet nose idea. The only problem is going to be getting this hung up midway inside the hull along the side.

Thanks for your help.

Here goes................

Kid

Re: Re-wiring transducer

ive always been told never to cut or make joints in a transducer cable, as it is made to a correct length and resistance.
