Read all FAQ didn't find answer

Thanks in advance....Just received a 1977 Evinrude 15 that hasn't ran in years and I m in the process of given it a look over before I try to start it. I've read all the FAQ and everything that the Machinist wrote but in all that info the has never been anything mentioned about a AIR FILTER .... Maybe these engines didn't have one. Mine has the black silencer air box but there's no filter inside... Form what I can tell it doesn't look like there should be one but thought it wouldn't hurt to ask. There's not even a screen or little foam..should there be one?

Don't worry, there is no filter. It's just a silencer like you said.

Usually there isn't too much dust out on the water like there is from dirt roads etc., so no filter is necessary. Good thing eh?
