Re: Real dilemma here what to do?

For all these years the marina had no paperwork whatsoever on the boat at all, and there were no reg. numbers on the boat, except for the hin number. They paid their attorney to get hold of the title and that's when they saw there was a banks lein on it. Oct. 8th. the bank said there was no lein by them or anyone else on the boat anymore. Since then the problem has been trying to get the release, which they say is all taken care of .

The plot is still a little foggy, but at least it's moving in the right direction! Keep posting footbrake … kinda' want to see if the "butler did it." ;)

Wel.well, well what a difference a day makes. The lein release came today with the title signed over to the marina, so I'm ready to go to motor vehicle to get everything in my name. Seeing the trailer had no vin # on it, In New York I had to have a local police officer come over to verify and fill out a forn that indeed there was no vin # on the trailer. then I had to have it weighed. it was 1060#. If it was under 1000# all I would need is a transferable reg.. Over 1000# I need to have it titled. So I think everything is in order to get new numbers for the boat and plates on the trailer. Mostly I want everything in my name and all legal. Being in a marina I may never use the trailer, but I won't ever have this problem again, and if I ever sell it or move the boat everything will be in order.

Thanks to all for your help

Glad to hear about the good outcome.

At the risk of sounding preachy, I'm going to issue a piece of advise to you youngsters out there: Don't push any money across the table until ALL the paperwork is sitting on said table, clean and ready to go. The OP was dealing with someone he knew well as an honorable man and who proved to be honorable, yet he still suffered through about 3 months of anxiety until everything was settled. It's much easier to get this stuff cleared up BEFORE money changes hands and if it never gets cleared up, the money is still in your pocket.
