Hey guys so I bought another fixer upper, 1992 Crownline 196 BR 5.0 mercruiser. Well got it running aftera new starter and battery. Not sure how long it has sat maybe a year or better. Anyway after getting it running and seeing if it goes into gear I tried to turn the wheel and wow it is tight. I took the pin out in the back and the stern drive moves freely by hand, so that tells me it's the cable right. Any way I took the outer cable nut loose and the cable will not come out. Any ideas guys?

There should be another pin that holds the end of the cable. Did you take out that one as well?
when I had to pull my cable it was very hard to get it out.

Well I got the cable out man was it tight in that tube, but also cable its self is stuck. Bad news is the guide tube broke {I think that's what its called someone can correct me on that] but read somewhere that it should be replaced anyways. Anyways I did order a manual and will order a new cable next week.

Well I got my cable out and got a new one ordered. So now on to remove the adapter block so I can remove the broken guide tube. Any body have any experience doing this it seems to be pretty tight, I do have the nut removed just need to pop of the adapter?

Ayuh,.... That block is held by 2 bolts, one down from the top, 'n another up from below, then it should come right out,....

Grease the 'ell outa the cable end, 'n inside the tube, so this don't happen again,....
