I've found every adhesive and lubricant that the manual says I need except Loctite 27131 and 3M brand adhesive. All the Loctite stuff here is 3 digits and 3M brand adhesive is pretty vague. Any help would be appreciated.

As far as loctite goes, you want the 271.
Threadlocker 271, 50mL Bottle, Red

Look close at the bottle and below the 271, it is labeled as 27131.

Not sure on the 3M.

Sorry Bondo. I've been doing a lot lately and haven't been very clear in my posts. I pressure tested the lower unit and my shift shaft bushing was leaking so I replaced it, but while I was in there I changed the impeller too. Now I am almost ready to reassemble it and the book says to use 3M adhesive on the nuts at the side that bolt the upper and lower units together (page 3C-8). Guess I'm wrong about the Loctite :) Just checked again and can't find it.

Ayuh,..... I believe you'll find that glue is to hold the quad ring in-place,.... Not for the nuts holdin' the units together,....

On those nuts and bolts, put PLENTY of good marine grease, really sticky stuff. I use 'Auqa-lube'. If you don't, the salt gets into the threads and has a little party in there. The corrosion can be so bad that it splits the nuts. I've seen that a few times. Put Aqua-lube on and the next time you go to move them, it's like they were put on the day before.

What adhesive do you recommend for holding that ring in place?

Chris......

My boat is for freshwater use only. But I will be using grease on them.

Ayuh,...... Don S convinced me to abandon my ways, 'n use Perfect Seal in places like that,.....

I'm now a True Believer,.....
I've got little bottles of form a gasket #3 in every one of my many toolboxes, for every nut or bolt that might rust,....

I agree on the dab of grease to hold the o-rings,... All of 'em,....

I agree, Perfect Seal is also a very good product for that... But I don't have to pay for my Aqua-lube... :D :D :D
