Started off looking at the Tracker v 15 sc then got scared for with all the weld problems. Then started looking at Lund rebel 1475 ss. Any thoughts on this boat? I need it small so I can get it into my garage with two cars.

Thanks
Don

Re: Rebel 1475 ss

Hi Don,

I have a 1984 Lund S14 DLX that I bought used. It has a 35hp Evinrude on it and is a wonderful little boat. Very well made, light, stable and a very good fishing platform. Even after all these years it is as dry as a bone. Not a leak anywhere! Will also add that they hold their resale value very well.

Best wishes and enjoy which every you decide.

Lund makes nice boats, but that's coming from a Lund fan and owner. I think the max hp on the Rebel model you are looking at is 30.

Another great boat company is Alumacraft. Both Lund and Alumacraft are built in Minnesota (I've visited both factories; very impressive). Anyway, and sorry if you already did the research and know this, Alumacraft makes a model they call their Fisherman 145 CS. The beam is about the same as the Rebel, but you can put up to a 35 hp motor on it.

Also, with Lund you might be limited to Mercury motors since both companies are owned by Brunswick. But Alumacraft has no such marriage, so you can hang any ol' motor on it that your heart desires, like maybe a Yamaha. Now that would be sweet. -Ken

I looked at the Alumacraft boats, really didn't like the seat placement in it. They are a lot cheaper then Lund. They came with a Yamaha outboard. Don't know if that's good or bad.

Don't know what to tell you.

I love my Lund (Explorer 1650) but I've been on a couple of Alumacrafts and they are fine boats. The Yamaha is a good motor, too.

Kind of comes down to a seat of the pants feeling - which boat feels best to you? Maybe which fits the pocketbook the best. You truely can't go wrong with either one, IMO.
