I was thinking of removing, cleaning, and rebuilding the carbs on my 71' 800 this fall. I can do this on a car, but have never tried it on a outboard. I don't have a manual at this time, but am trying to locate one on Ebay. How difficult is this to do if 10 = 'DON'T EVEN TRY" and 1 = MY SON COULD DO IT IN HIS SLEEP. Thanks again for all your advice and assistance.

I'd say 2-3 as long as the screws aren't too siezed in place. Just open it all up and spray every passage with an air compressor, you can also use carb cleaner but I never do. Then get a carb kit and replace parts. Make sure you remember which is upper and lower, and remove the idle needle before cleaning it or you can bend it.<br />Eric

What about the settings? Is that a difficult process to get them sync'd up corretly?
