Has anyone rebuilt a set of back to back boat seats?
From the inside out?

I picked up a set for 20 bucks. But while installing them into the boat I noticed a lot of rotten wood. I installed anyway to get one last family boat ride.

So, can they be rebuilt this way?

Re: Rebuild Boat seats?

I haven't personally done it but last year I had the local Amish completly redo all the interior of the boat. When we talked about the seats I explained that I can purchase new ones cheaper etc..He explained that he could relpace all the wood with Marine grade plywood and completely redo the seats for a fraction of the cost. He was correct, he did it over the winter complete for $450.00...

Good luck!

I did on my lounge seats 2 years ago when I got em for cheap too. It probably cost me 30 bucks. I used regular good ol' CDX coated in epoxy. I took off the staples, pulled out the mushy wood and replaced it... then re stapled everything back in place

im with zopperman since hes done it also, but if the material and padding is ok you should be able to removed the staples and old wood and cut out some new wood and just re-staple the original material if its in ok shape to atleast get you by

Just be careful -- i was lucky enough that my foam was OK, if yours is black and moldy... could be a problem.

Re: Rebuild Boat seats?

I was crazy enough to redo mine since I had the extra marine plywood left from my deck. Feel free to take a look at the pics of them being rebuilt as I listed where I bought the hinges, etc. (Veada) I had them reupholstered with the same material doing the rest of the interior. It starts at about page 9 and goes on for a bit :) http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=319609&page=9

Were I to do it all over again I'd probably buy some Veada seats and buy the material from them to do the rest of the boat.

The work wasn't all that hard but was a bit time consuming.
