rebuilding '84 evinrude tilt & trim cylinders

Hey guys,

Need some help on finding parts to rebuild the cylinders on T/T. I can find reseal kits but they do not have the wipers and what appears to be a special o-ring that go on the pistons. The parts diagrams I've found online as well as a couple of local dealers do not show the wipers at all. The local dealers can't tell me if the pistons come with the o-ring and wipers as part of the assembly.

If you can direct me to a website and/or parts dealer, I'd be most grateful. The model # is E50TLCRM if that helps.

Thanks for the reply but that site uses the same parts diagram as all of the other sites I've found so far. None of them show the wipers in the diagram. I ordered the oring kit through a local dealer but it didn't include the wipers so I let them keep the kit.

Talked with Crowley's online sales dept. They say the wipers are included but have yet to verify the correct oring for the pistons is in the kit. Still looking.

That's the kit part number I've found in several places but it doesn't have the molded rubber piece/o-ring that fits on the piston. Also missing are the wiper/compression rings that go on either side o-ring. Still looking.

I am not sure why your kits are missing the items you mentioned, I did purchase a kit from ishopmarine.com and it worked perfectly for my rebuild last year. My motor is a 87 140 v4 ..

Still looking for info on the piston o-rings and wiper/compression rings. None of the dealers, local or online, have been able to find part numbers for the piston components other than the piston itself.

I asked about ordering the pistons but was told that they are just the metal part(s) only.

The code is E50TLCRM. It's an '84 50 HP 2 cylinder. I've had my hands on a reseal/oring kit, part #0174520. It does not contain the rebuild parts for the pistons. It does contain a set of wipers that go in the screw cap to keep debris out of the cylinder. A local dealer told me the rings for the pistons are also referred to as wipers. Each piston has 2 rings and a molded rubber piece. These are the pieces that I'm having trouble finding.

Bad news you will have to buy the entire cylinder it does not have the seal kit listed. If you like its up to you, Send me one each of the old seals you are looking for and I can match it to my collection If I have a match its yours for free. I will mail the old seals back to you regardless.

I found the right seals/rings at a local seal supply. Had time to make some calls and traced down a likely supplier. Took the old parts in and they matched them up. They told me these were off the shelf parts used in a variety of hydraulic cylinders.
