I am rebuilding the carbs on my 1977 merc 115. All the screws and caps have red loctite on them and i cannot get them loose. The heads are just stripping. Any ideas??

Thanks,
Brian

I am having the worst time with this. The hairdryer worked on a couple but the jets are COMPLETELY stuck and are getting stripped and I am getting more frusterated.

Brian

Bump it up to a small flame from a butane or propane torch. Grind a perfect square edge on your screwdriver tip. Either the jet strips or comes out.

Brian, get a good high quality screwdriver set. A gunsmith set usually has all the best hollow ground tips. You could also soak the carbs in carb cleaner (get a gallon can from NAPA) for a day or so and that usually loosens things up to.

Bob
