No, putting in a carb kit isn't that hard, as long as you take your time and have a moderate mechanical inclinement its pretty easy..

Use Carb cleaner, there are lots of brands around, its just a solvent designed to disolve deposites left by old fuel...

good luck.

rgds

Frank

Carb repair can sometimes be very complicated.
I would 1st recommend getting a repair manual. this will assist you greatly in reassembling the carb. here is the sequence to follow.
1. remove all inlets/jets and welch plugs
2. make sure all gaskets are off carb.
3. Soak carb in solution ( this can be bought at any parts store) for recommended time.
4. remove from solution and blow through all orfices in carb with compressed air to remove cleaner and trash from jets. This is very important....make sure all carb cleaner is removed from carbs before reassembling.
5. reinstall jets and new welch plug with proper gaskets/seals.
6. reinstall carb on motor.
7. refer to manual for proper jet settings, these hi and low settings must be correct to achieve proper lubrication and fuel /air mixture to pistons

don't let this scare you, I just completely rebuilt the fuel system for a 61 merc 700 which has 3 carbs. It only took a few hours.
Good luck!!!!
