Have a rebuilt powerhead on an 81 200 hp evinrude along with rebuilt carbs and fuel pumps, plugs ect. The problem is when I nail the throttle from idle it dies. Runs pretty good on top end when you get there. I was told to put in larger idler jets at the time the all the work was done. Could this be a problem? Does it sound like a fuel isssue?

It is a 20ft glastron carlson with a 14 1/4x19 . I have had this boat for 18 yrs and always ran that size prop.

Try bumping the primer (push in key) just before and/or while you accelerate. If the motor recovers you've got got a fuel delivery problem.

If that is the case, it could be any number of things...something plugging carbs or an air leak somewhere in the fuel system would be where I would start looking.

Good luck!

Yes and Yes. Runs good in the driveway but when you put the load on it it doesn't.

Did you do any performance enhancements (heads, porting) when the engine was rebuilt? Is the new power head a 200 with your 200 carbs, or a 150 with 200 carbs?
