Is your tank vent clogged? the only thing I can come up with? maybe the vent line is kinked? anyway, can you remove the vent line at the tank, and temporarily leave it open to the atmosphere, or put a length of open hose on it, to take it out of your way, and then try it again.

It would be easier to just take the cap off the fuel fill. ;)

Re: Rebuilt Carb. Having problems. PLEASE HELP

I had the cap off the fuel fill and I could hear sum noises in the fuel tank while the pump was running like it was trying to suck gas, but was getting air in the line and I have over a half tank of fuel...
The line is about maybe near 10 feet a little over from the tank all the way up to the filter inlet. Then a fitting on the outlet side of the filter with a 6" long hose running up to the fuel pump inlet and then a fitting on outlet side with a hose that runs up to and screws into the carb. lines.

I'm going to disconnect the main fuel line going into the fuel filter and hook up a clear hose to it and put the other end in a gas can and see if the pump will suck it out of that...
If it does then I'm assuming theres still sum sort of issue with the new anti-siphon valve and maybe the 90 degree fitting it screws into. Like I said fuel pickup tube and screen and clear of debris.

Also what would happen if I took the anti-siphon valve out and just screwed in a regular fitting then hooked the line back up and tried to see if the pump would suck then? If it did pump then I'm still wondering about the AS valve cause the pump should have more than enough pressure to suck gas through it otherwise it wouldn't work in the first place..... Weird

That will be on the agenda for tomorrow as well as installing the new oil pressure switch.....

Man, you could really benefit from that gauge and the outline.

YES I know I could, but problem is I don't have the cash right now because I'm out of a job due to a motorcycle accident and I have a broken femur and can't walk 100% yet, but can still sit down and work on the boat ;)
All the extra funds I had went to medical bills and other bills and they slowly dried up if ya know what I mean.

I know know certain auto part stores will let you "rent" special tools from them so I'm going to check around town tomorrow and see what I can find.....

Regarding the fuel tank, running out of a separate tank will show if the actual pickup in the onboard tank has a problem, so I think it is worth the effort. Just removing the fuel cap will only show a problem with the venting.

All power to you!

UPDATE:
I hooked up a seperate fuel tank and clear fuel line. Turned the key on and once again the fuel pump was running, but not sucking the gas and it was making bubbles in the gas can like it was blowing instead of sucking so I knew that was a problem right there.
I checked the wires on the fuel pump and they were correct + to + and - to -. I then followed the wires all the way to the back were they were spliced in and whoever did it had them wired BACKWARDS!
I switched the wires back around and sure enough pump worked fine. So now I need to remember + to - and - to +.

Hooked everything back up to the fuel tank and cranked the motor and she fired right up!

I'm still waiting on the oil pressure switch from UPS so I can wire that up and take her to the river and see if it will run for more than a few minutes and not die on me.

I'll keep updated once I get to test her out.

Thanks again,
Aaron

stillwatchin i dont know if your fuel pump is tank mounted but if it is not
you could run off another tank .that would isolate your supply prob.

UPDATE: BOAT RUNS!!!

Hey guys I installed the new oil pressure switch....

Hooked the boat up to the garden hose started her up and let it run to operating temp. Boat ran perfect, idled fine and smooth.
I ran her a good 15 minutes or so and no bogging, spitting, sputtering or dying out whatsoever. I also revved it up a bunch and ran great!

I'm thinking that switch was the problem along with the messed up wiring on the fuel pump.

Although I need to run it on water under a load to see what happens yet.... Hope she runs the same as in neutral.

Just need to do some minor adjustments to the floats and I'm good to go

Soonest I'll have it on water is Saturday so I'll let you know what happens then.

Thanks again,
Aaron
