rebuilt engine sterndrive/ need advise

I recently aquired a 21 ft Grady White (marlin) cuddy cabin 1977.<br /> The boat is in great shape but needs an engine. The previous owner tells me the out drive is in great shape<br />I believe that the boat had a 140 hp, 3.7 lt , OMC in it . What do I need to do to be sure the outdrive matches up with the engine. <br />What am I looking for and where should I get it?

eddie , repower with a new mercruiser pkg. you will need to get a new transom put in it and this will all cost a bit. but if the boat is really nice it might be worth doing this way . that omc stuff hangin out the back of her now is not worth messing with.sell what you have in omc parts and that might pay for the transom .
