Recognize this Johnson?

A friend of mine just got this little boat with a 2 cyl. Johnson on it. Runs really well and the hydraulics work. I wanted to try and help him find some information so I can get him a manual, but there does not appear to be a serial number anywhere on the outboard. The HIN of the boat is RVR14089M 81.

The hull is a Riviera Fiberglass Corporation.​

what i know right now is , it's a 48 spl, which is a 50 hp without the VRO oil set up. fuel/oil is 50/1 premix. on the transon support on the opposite side of the motor should be a plate with the model number. if not look for a welch plug like this on top of the engine block. great motors, dependable, i would love to have one.

I'll check the places you suggested when I get over to my buddy's house next. It's a sweet running little outboard and it pushes the little boat around pretty well!​
