Any recommendations for a hour meter ga for a 2004 Yamaha V6 150 on a 2005 Polar? Currently has a mechanical tach. And how difficult are they to install?

Re: Recommend a hour meter ga?

An hour meter is simply a 12 volt powered clock that displays accummulated hours rather than repeating every 12 hours. Two wires to connect (+12 volts when the key is on and ground). The meter will run even if the engine is not running so should the engine stall and you forget to turn the key off, the meter runs. There is no electrical connection to the engine. Check right here on iBoats for hour meters.

Good point Silvertip brings up here. Don't leave your key in the "run" position without the motor running, as the meter will show more hours than you actually have...

RB,
I bet if one poked around the back side of a Yam ignition switch, I could probably find a wire that has 12V+ only while the engine is running...tap into that, and off we go!
