Recommend a Sealant

Last year I pulled the below deck access covers, and put new sealant around them. Within this time, the sealant has yellowed and become VERY brittle, definitely not 'sealing' anything anymore.

I have since pulled the cover off, and need to re-seal them. They are just the round screw on access covers.

MY question is this: What kind of sealant should i use? It needs to stay flexible if possible.

White or clear is preferred.

Also, what should I use when re-mounting my engine? 5200?

Thanks
Shawn

Boatlife Life Seal works well for both applications.

5200 is good stuff should not be used on anything that you'll ever want to remove. I've seen peole pull gel coat off trying to remove the stuff.

Like dingbat says....
"I've seen peole pull gel coat off trying to remove the stuff."

I had to remove some transom eyes and the fishfinder transducer and speed wheel after sealing them up with 5200 last season. I was expecting a fight so I was very carefull and went slowly, but even so I managed to pull off two chuncks of gel coat about the size of a quarter. Luckily the new hardware covered everything up nicely and I used the 3M 4200 this time.

Whatever sealant you decide on, be sure to clean both surfaces very well before applying the sealant.
