Recommended sealant??

This forum is great. Looks like there is a wealth of knowledge here!

I was wondering what sealant is recommended for the seams of access panels, like for the fuel tank, etc... I need to replace the float switch for my bilge pump, and I don't want to use silicone because that stuff seems to be a bear to remove if I ever need to remove the panel again. The previous owner used silicone on the hard top and it is so squishy and flexible, it is hard to remove even with a razor.

That being said, any suggestions on how to remove the stuff??

Thanks again!

Re: Recommended sealant??

Slow traffic here lately. Everyone must be fishing. Anyway...Why is it important to seal it? Maybe use a neoprene gasket. Just a thought.

You think silicone is hard to remove..try to remove 5200 :) ..

I would seal it with 3m 4000 or 4200.

YD.
