Hi Everyone and Merry Chrsitmas!

I am in the process of stripping down a Mercruiser 3.0 litre to rebuild(water in crankcase....sigh) and am gathering up supplies/tools. My question is what do you recommend for silicone sealants and gasket sealers. I'd be interested in specific brands including the Quicksilver oem products. Are they all the same or are some better? Do you need a marine grade sealer specifically?

Any help would be great!

No gasket sealers are needed, unless specified in the service manual and then it will tell you which type to use.

You will need RTV sealant for the oil pan corners and OMC Gasket Sealing Compund or Merc Perfect seal for various other gaskets like the pan gaske, side cover gaskets, thermostat gaskets and so on. A bottle of 272 Loctite for the flywheel bolts, Permatex Aviation Gasket Maker for the head bolts and bearing lube for assembly.
