Hi all,
I'm just curious to know how many boating hours one put on a boat for recreation or fishing. I heard atypical family put on about 50 hours. Is that about right?

I assume you mean hours per season, right? That sounds about right for the typical family. On the other hand, besides my having five fingers, a serious boater or fisherman might put lots more than that on a boat in a season. Lots more.

In fact, I generally put 50-100 hours on a boat per month during the height of the season.

It just all depends.

Also depends on location. The boating season is a lot longer in Fresno than here in MN. There was a thread a while ago with a poll for average hours you use your boat per season here in Dockside Chat.

I typically put on about 100 hours per season.

most things you read say the average boater puts 50 hrs on their engine a season.

i probably average about 100, but plan to increase that this year.

Longer season here in PNW, and we get out every weekend!
9 year old boat divided by 2716 hours (on the meters) = 301 avg. a year!

I just relocated (and retired) so everything will be different now.

I have put about 50 hours per year on the engine but spend much of the time anchored or overnighting. The last two years were about thirty trips each year (on the Chesapeake Bay) and the second year was mostly overnight stays. These were often under ten miles each way to the anchoring spot. This equates to about one "engine hour" and thirty four "boat hours" per trip.

I put about 40 hours a year on my big motor.
About 80 hours on the kicker motor.
About 80 hours with no motor.
175 to 200 hours on the boat.
