Rectifier cuts out

Hi all,
I have a 1994 200 oceanrunner that recently had a new flywheel, powerpack, and rectifier installed. I was having a low voltage/no charge situation and the mechanic said the magnets had de-magnetized and the powerpack was shot. Apparently this burned up the rectifier. It runs great, but after idle speed through the water for 5 minutes or so, the tach cuts out and the voltage drops to battery voltage (12.6 or so). After a few minutes of running at higher RPMs it jumps back to normal. I am going to take it in, but I looking for opinions as to why this may happen. I have not checked the wiring for loose connections, I'm going to ask them to recheck their connections from the prior work. any ideas? thanks.

Re: Rectifier cuts out

Certainly would want to recheck connections, but it could be a stator failing...

What was the original complaint before all the parts were added?

Never seen a looper flywheel demagnetize, sounds like a bad stator to me.

Re: Rectifier cuts out

The original problem was low voltage and not starting. It had no spark even with the new power pack. Replaced flywheel with known good one and old power pack was bad. They then used a known good power pack and the good flywheel. Starts great and voltage is at 14.4, like the original posts says. (dont want to repeat). it only drops voltage while trolling. They tested the stator and said it had no voltage with old flywheel, but the ohms were right. With the new flywheel it worked fine at the shop. They mentioned the magnets may have been affected by a nearby lightning strike. sounds crazy but they've always treated me well and i believe them to be honest. it's the number 1 bombard/OMC dealer around town. does this sound plausible? Could the stator be the "weak link" in the electrical system with the other parts being new?
