Rectifier for a 1976 85hp

I have a 1976 johnson 85 hp,model#85el76d,serial#j4556382.I need a new rectifier.I found one for 24.99 at overtons.com.The guy I talked to asked for the part # on my old rectifier.It is 510885.He said that this paticular rectifier might not work for me.Any information on this subject would be greatly appreciated.I cant find a rectifier with this # anywhere.I find part#s like 19-5708 or 5708.Overtons part#is 24800.

Welcome johnsonman to the forums!<br /><br />The latest part number for you rectifier is 583408. That's the BRP PN. You can order this PN from any local John/Rude dealer. About $42.<br /><br />The Sierra PN is 19-5708. You can order this rectifier from here on iboats (just go into their Mega Mall) or you can get it from any NAPA dealer near you. If Overtons can't tell you wether or not their rectifier will work, stay away. The above part numbers will work.

Thanks OBJ I went to a omc dealer and got one.He gave me the right one.Part #583408.I paid 49.00 for it,but I knew it was the right one.
