Rectifier Gasket

I'm in the process of replacing the rectifier on a 1998 Johnson 225. I just received the parts, rectifier and gasket, today. The service manual calls for using gasket sealer on the gasket. The gasket I received, OMC part, has a peel off sticky side on one side. the other side does not. I would assume, I should apply the peel off sticky side to the rectifier and use gasket sealer, OMC gasket sealer, to the other side. Confirmation of this assumption would be appreciated. This is my first 'major' repair and want to get it right the first time. Thanks

I'm guessing, but absent manual instructions I would use the sticky side on the rectifier side, and gasket sealer on the block side.

Fed and Oldboat1, I appreciate your replies. Just shows, it's always good to ask. The only stupid question is the one not asked. I was wondering about the service manual you referenced. Mine is dated 1997 and is blue in color. What year of publication is yours? Thanks again!!!!

1992-2001 aftermarket at the library, probably a superseded part which would explain why it's not mentioned in your manual.
If you checked a genuine 2001 manual it would probably be in there.

Clunky website but better than nothing.
