rectifier question , merc 850

i have a merc 850 . i want to check my rectifier,where's it located? i'm haveing trouble finding it. any help woud be appreciated. thanks

Depends on the year of the motor. The older (~1973) motors had a big ugly red one in the bottom cowl. Newer motors have the rectangular one mounted on the cowl support. Trace the yellow wires from under the flywheel and they will lead you to it.
