Rectifier Questions

Hey all,

I have a 1976 Johnson, 75HP "stinger".

The wiring on the motor was fried because someone hooked up some items wrong. I have managed to completely replace all the bad wiring, corrected the wiring issues, and gotten the motor running, however, the rectifier was cooked.

Couple questions:

1. Is the rectifier supposed to control the tach? (Tach worked on other motor, but not on this one, when I traded rectifiers, my tach started working again).
2. Anyone have any experience with the three brands offered here on iboats?
(CDI, Sierra, Arco)?

here are the links:

CDI Clicky

Sierra Clicky

Arco Clicky

Is any one better than the other? (I'm going to try to get the wife to buy a replacement, but she will want to go cheapest).

Re: Rectifier Questions

I just replaced my rectifier on my 1974 115HP Johnson. Got the CDI from iboats. Very happy with the rectifier and iboats(very fast delivery using the cheapest US Post Office rates) but I've only had it about a month. Yes, tach works off signal from rectifier....Tach didn't work before, works fine with new rectifier.
