I have to replace the rectifier on my 1977 70 HP mercury outboard. I got the new part, which is the OEM part. I was just curious if there was anything special that I needed to know about to replace it since I have never replaced one before. Do you just hook the wires back up the same way they were connected? It actually shouldn't matter which wire goes where as long as I get the positive wire leading to the battery on the correct post because the other two posts are AC right?

This is one of the easy jobs to do... It sounds like you have the common sence to do it. But just for the sake of kindness. You may want to mark the wires or reconect each one, one at a time...
