rectifier testing

On my 95 Mercury 125, I replaced the stator, and when you ohm it out, it puts out around 120 cranking, but as soon as you you put the two stator wires back on the power pack, it only shows 25 on the DVA meter. Could it be the regulator is not working properly? And is there a way to test it? Also, would it be the power pack or the alternator terminal block? Thinking maybe the regulator cause the stator to burn out? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Re: rectifier testing

That sounds like a shorted regular ck the yellow terminals (or wires on a regulator)to ground to see if it's shorted

Re: rectifier testing

Thanks,....Is there a specific output on those yellow wires, or does it not matter?

Re: rectifier testing

Don't test with the engine running, just use a OHM meter a make sure the reg/rectifier is not shorted to ground

Re: rectifier testing

The test on the regulator will be without the motor running due to it will not start,..The old stator had burned out, I replaced it and it still will not start.
