What are some of the symptoms of a bad reed valve? A 1983 90 hp six cylinder will increase revs up and then back down to normal without moving the throttle.

That is a fuel/air mix problem, hl. Nothing to do with reeds.

A bad reed totally kills it's associated cylinder at idle. It also tends to spit fuel at you through the carb throat.

Thanks, was unable to check it today. We will try to do more adjustment on the carbs. Was told that gas was coming out the front of the carbs. May have to go through them again and check the float level.
