I recently bought a 1988 200 Looper Johnson. It had Boyesen reeds in it and it blew a reed. I bought some used OEM reeds to replace the Boyesens. I didn't know at the time that it's not recommended that you flip the reed petals over and I did on a couple of them because they seemed to seat better. I used red loctite on them when I put the assemblies back together. My question is, do I need to pull that whole thing down again and flip the reed petals or are they probably ok? They were in good shape when I installed them.

It is true that you are not supposed to flip them. Have you run it with the flipped reeds? If you have and you flip them again you might be making a bad situation worse. How about it, are you feeling lucky??

Up in Norhtern Wis,At a cabin years ago we have flipped the reeds on an old beater Yamaha Blaster 200cc atv on two seperate occasions and never had troubles. If that makes you feel any better but I am not saying it's good to do.
