refinishing teak question

I have located a teak swim platform that looks as though it may meet my needs for my old boat. It looks as though it is going to need refinishing. It has some places that appear gray where the varnish has come off. Any suggestions on whether it would be worth my time to get this platform? What sort of damage can I expect with teak that has had some obvious time in the water?

Re: refinishing teak question

It can be brought back to life. What i usually do is use a teak cleaner or some of the deck wash wood cleaner, then pressure wash it.That gets the dark mold off. Then sand it with about 150 grit to get the original color back. Then apply several thick coats of starbrite golden teak oil over a couple days time.It will look new.
That is what i did to the teak in my chrisCraft and it was very grey and faded.
it turned out very good..
