I am thinking of reflooring my 18' bass boat. I will need help, though. So, please talk in slow terms... :) I have pulled some of the carpet up and noticed that the floor is just plywood. Is this a correct flooring? And, that the screws are screwed into the fiberglass under the plywood. The holes that the screws have made are more of a "rotted" fiberglass. If you understand. Is there a way to fix this? We'll start from here.

You are going to just have to start tearing stuff apart. If the floor is soft, then you will have to tear it completely out. This will expose the stringers underneath. If they are rotted, they will need to come out as well. Lastly, you will need to check the transom. Odds are there are issues, even minor, with it as well. It has always been my opinion that if a person has torn floor and stringers out of a hull, they may as well replace the transom as well. This way you are 100% gauranteed to have a good end result without having to redo something down the road. Good luck...

Before tearing out the floor support the hull well so it doesn't distort while the floor is out. Measure the width of the hull at several places, consoles, etc.
