I have a Free Standing 3.7 Mercruiser . As a back up , Like new 17 hours
Once in a while I start it , Today I went too start it and dont recall what my buddy did

Tried jumping today and starter keeps spinning so I must have continues power too starter not dropping off

THIS IS HOW THIS IS WIRED\

Ground of engine too ground of battery
Hot of battery too big bolt hot starter
Solenoid is 4 pronged

BIG BOLT HOT FROM STARTER
SMALL PRONG SMALL RED/YELLOW
SMALL PRONG - PURPLE /YELLOW TOO COIL
OTHER BIG BOLT heavy duty RED/YELLOW wire

Don't want too burn out anything , so if any of you folks remember what wire goes were too
free standing engine I would appreciate it . Light bulb went off , hot leg of starter too starter
relay ?? not solenoid ??

THANK U

coil + to battery connection (preferably with alegator clips or a switch so you can easily shut it off). the motor is now "hot-wired"

jumper B+ terminal (big cable) to S terminal on starter with screw driver (small red/yellow generally goes here )

there should not be "OTHER BIG BOLT" post a pic. make sure you are not connecting anything to the field buss bolt. the only thing that should be connected to the field wire is the lower solenoid wire.

the I terminal (sometimes called the R terminal) is the purple/yellow wire and that is only hot when cranking. No need to worry about it
