Re: Refridgerator

A friend, the local handyman, told me I helped in getting my fridge running by placing it on it's side by accident. He says he gets fridges, that havn't been running for awhile, running by placing them on their side to lubricate a valve in the compressor that has become stuck. The old fridge is back in the boat, but getting replaced, running quiet, and I'm enjoying a cold beverage in the mean time while sanding some teak.....Huh?..ever hear of this?

Yes I have and I don't know why that didn't come to me originally. Heck...keep the fridge until it pukes. Put your money elsewhere. Like filling the fridge! :)

So this is real?....The Admiral filled the fridge for me and refers to me as captain again. I think they both are keepers.

It's late and I'm ready for bed so I might have missed something but;

The first link has prices but doesn't seem to actually sell the Honda generators and the other links are for other (unknown) brands.

I'm looking for that Honda 2000 watt generator for $400 or even a little more.

That's pretty much what I said in post #6. ;)

Yes it will fit on a swim platform but what about spashing from the boat's wake or waves when anchored? What about when it rains?

Are you going to store the generator on the swim platform or bring it into the cabin or engine compartment full of gasoline?

What about the carbon monoxide from the exhaust?

But I am ready to buy one for $409 for my home. Hurricane season is just around the corner.

Haven't used the Honda on the boat, but to let you know, after Hurricane Ike, we were without electricity for 21 days. Used the Honda 2k gen and ran the house fridge, small freezer, TV, 110 window AC and a few lights--never missed a beat, quietest on the block. Used 5 gallons every 3 days. We put the Generator on the driveway and ran a heavy-duty cord with multiple outlets with overload cutoff to the living room window for the ac and other appliances.
