i am planning to completely redo a pontoon boat i have . it needs it all carpet, furniture , console , needs live wells sound system etc, etc.

i will also be looking at getting a new boat instead . new boats i have already looked at start at 40,000+. which is a little out of the budget range.

i realize that i will still have an old boat that looks new but it will be payed for . that being said if the refurbish ends up being to high will opt for the new .

so i need recommendations on where to shop for the new stuff .

You can find lots of stuff easy. I rebuilt mine last year. Yes you can drop 40 k on a new one or rebuilt it for a lot less and get exactly what you want.

Re: refurbishing poontoon boat

For pontoon items, pontoonstuff.com is a great place to go.

Nothing wrong with an older pontoon boat. That said, I would only want to rebuild my pontoon boat only if it was mechanically sound. In other words, don't spend the $ for seats, etc. if the engine's not worthy of being on a boat of substantial investment.

And you don't have to do it all at the same time. Rebuilding can be done in stages if it's too much $ at once. I see people all the time with folding chairs on their toons.

Re: refurbishing poontoon boat

There are so many websites i've found as i've been re-building mine for the past year and a half. Pontoonstuff Pontoonspecialists EverythingPontoon RestorePontoon ********.....the list goes on and on. I've found it's a lot more fun rebuilding a pontoon from the ground up rather than just buying one because everything you do is your work and your decisions. Have fun!

Re: refurbishing poontoon boat

hey guys have a couple of new questions.

first of all thankyou for all the info so far . have found many new sites as well as looking here .

1) , are there a difference in marine grade plywood flooring versus the treated plywood you find at lowes or home-depot ?

2) would you go back with carpet or vinyl on floor ?

3) i am trying to find a captain console with a sink included as i have seen on the newer models i see at the boat shows. are these not available or are they a separate unit ?

4) need to pickup a high quality porta potty . it needs to be able to support the heavy weights (250 - 300+) . also needs to be easy to deal with as far as cleaning , and emptying , should also be similar to a home unit as far as height. (girl friend has limited flexibility from knee surgery .

5) and last question for now (lol) i have also looked for inclosures half as well as full . does anyone offer them or is this strictly custom item only ?

Ok lets go down your list

1) , are there a difference in marine grade plywood flooring versus the treated plywood you find at lowes or home-depot ?
Yes a lot of difference pressure treated plywood will dissolve the alum cross members. So don't use that, marine grade will last 20 years

2) would you go back with carpet or vinyl on floor ?
Both will work fine , a lot of people are going with the textured marine vinyl with good results.

3) i am trying to find a captain console with a sink included as i have seen on the newer models i see at the boat shows. are these not available or are they a separate unit ?
Not sure but I think those are separate units.

4) need to pickup a high quality porta potty . it needs to be able to support the heavy weights (250 - 300+) . also needs to be easy to deal with as far as cleaning , and emptying , should also be similar to a home unit as far as height. (girl friend has limited flexibility from knee surgery .
Not sure on that

5) and last question for now (lol) i have also looked for inclosures half as well as full . does anyone offer them or is this strictly custom item only ?
Thats a bimni top and most of the full type enclosures and custom made to fit.
