Here's a question for the brain trust...

Does anyone know where I can get a deal on a trailer for a 96 Regal Leisurecat 26?

Long story short, the boat is in Cape Coral Florida, I'm in SE Pennsylvania.
The boat is essentially free, all I have to do go and get it.
The repair work it needs is affordable (2900 for repair of rotted transom), but the prices I'm getting on trailers are threatening to sink the deal.

So far I've gotten quotes from Loadmaster and Float On in the 5 to 6K plus range.
I'm waiting for an answer from Boatmaster, but I'm not too hopefull they'll be any lower.

Searching Craigslist has turned up nothing.

What I have discovered so far is that I really need to go with an aluminum trailer due to tow vehicle limitations.
The aluminum Float On was almost half the weight of the Galvanized Loadmaster.
The boat weighs 3200 dry, so I'll need a trailer good for nearly 5K, and that alone is bumping the upper limit of my tow capacity, making trailer weight an important consideration.

Any ideas?
I'm not opposed to a used trailer if I can find one.
Anyone within 150 miles or so of Philly, or the Cape Coral/Ft Myers area got one sitting around?

Help!!

My first question is, what are you towing with? You probably need to think of upgrading.
My trailer is a tandem axle steel trailer and would have no problem hauling that boat and it weighs 1300 lb per the DMV.
There should be a ton of trailers in FL. Call around to some dealers there or look in the classifieds on here. There is a place in GA that will sell you one, but I dont know how much.
They are in the classifieds section all over the place. There are 5 on this page alone.

Re: Regal Leisurecat trailer

None of those trailers are gonna do it.

The Leisurecat is a catamaran hull, it needs a "special" trailer.

The tow vehicle is a 97 Ford F150 4.6L.
I tow a trailer for the school band that is in the neighborhood of 4K - 4.5K with no issues, but it works the truck pretty hard.
There is no possibility of an upgrade anytime in the foreseeable future.

The boat wet would be in the area of 4K+, but where she'll normally be used, the tow to the ramp is short and flat.
Bringing her up from Fla she'll be dry so it shouldn't be too bad.

Trailer weight is a consideration that I need to pay attention to since I'm close to my max rating.
