Hoping someone could help me with this.

We are active duty military stationed in NY are about to buy a boat in MA from an private seller and was wondering what we would need to register the boat in NY? Bill of Sale, Title, ? Would we pay sales tax when we registger it with the DMV in NY even though we bought it in MA? Thanks ahead of time!

Thanks Bondo-O! Are there any DMV forms we need to have filled out that are down loadable?

hmm thats weird...in NV, DMV wants nothing to do with the boat, just the trailer. Dept of wildlife does boat titling and registering. different states, different regulations...

Ayuh,... You'll probably need a couple of forms for both the boat,+ the trailer...
I don't know if they're downloadable from the DMV's website or not,... You'll have to search...
I just pick them up at the local DMV here in Watertown....

In Florida we go to the local Tax Collector's office for registering all vehicle titling and tag renewals including boats, trailers, and even mobile homes. This is were you also go for your fishing license if you want the Military Gold Sportsman's License for $20. You can get this price if you're active duty or retired military.

In Ohio the hull gets registered with the Ohio Division of Watercraft and it's good for 3 years.

The trailer gets registered with the Ohio Division of Motor vehicles renewal good for 1 year.

Years ago you had to register your outboard motor too but not anymore.
