Reinforcing/Preventative Maintenance on Wooden Floors?

I was wondering if there are any pro tips on doing preventative maintenance on wooden boat floors? Obviously, taking care of the boat and cleaning up properly during season and winter are very important, however are there any tips or products to buy in order to prevent any damage in the future?

Are you referring to the boat you just looked at? The wood planking should be encapsulated in fiberglass or at least some type of epoxy or resin. The only care is to let the boat dry out after use, especially if it has carpet over the flooring. Keep rain water out of it. When drilling into the floor for any reason be sure to seal it after properly.

Does it have a ski locker? If so what does it look like around the hatch opening and under.

At this point in it's life it all depends on how well she was taken care of in the proceeding 18 years. All you can do if you drive her away is take care of her.

From what I can see in the pics is the carpet looks to be in good shape and you don't want to rip it up.

The boat appears to be in good shape. Keep her clean and covered. Preventive measures should include upholstery care products to keep it looking good and good carpet vacuuming to clean up sand and grit which will destroy carpet.

If it checks out on Thursday - Enjoy your new boat.

It does have a ski locker. Everything looked and felt great, just trying to poke around to see if there's any recommendations. From searching for deals for the past 18 months, I've seen what is typical to go wrong with sellers and their boats. I'm getting the hint that it just comes down to taking proper care of the boat after use.

since the average boat still has a 15 year design life, anything over 15 years is a blessing. boats can last much much longer if they are religiously cleaned and dried after use.
