Make sure you tuck those coil and condenser wires away from the rotating cam and crank - you don't want to wear the insulation off the wires and have them short out.

IMG_1939_2.jpgHere is an example of getting them way out of the way(3 HP). Looks like your doing a great job on it. Rick.

Guess what??? I GOT SPARK!! HA! :D Using both the tester and the plugs themslelves in both wires. I'm so excited! :joyous: I'm using Champion J8C plugs and I gapped them to .030, is .030 the correct gap? I read somewhere that NGK may be a better choice for plugs, is that true? I also got all the wires tucked away, no worries. So, unless someone thinks otherwise, I think I'm done w/this portion of the restoration. I'll get a torque wrench and seat the flywheel and move onto the next step.

Thanks a lot!!

Glad you got some spark white. You've got the correct gap on the plugs, but stick with Champion rather than NGK. I would also suggest you use J4C or J6C plugs as the the J8Cs are too hot.

Agree - I usually use J6C for trolling.
