Check me if I'm wrong here, but pulling the drive doesn't change the alignment just gives you a chance to check it?

that's true. and if it has changed and is out of alignment. you need to find out why... + it gives ya a chance to do other required pm...

I gotta tell ya..
Even though I dont have the lower & upper all back together yet..

By taking the upper off I did find the water inlet packed with sand and muck.
I flushed it out had I not taken it off, I would prob burn up this new impeller that I have been fighting with.

Just to close this and say THANK YOU GUYS for the sound advice.

Turning the shaft a 1/4 turn let her drop right on (since I had it upside down).

She's all together, back on the boat filled with fresh OD lube..

What is funny, is that I filled from the bottom as everything I have read says to..Yet at the top port side of the upper unit, the screw there says OIL FILL....Regardless...she'll be fired up tomorrow night with the temp gauge hooked up and hopefully no heat issues this weekend on the water..

That worked for me..
Although I need to start a new post as my shifting has gone to heck in a handbasket
