Hi Folks, I took my motor out this fall to do a ton of work on it and am now putting it back in, Is there a trick to getting the motor mounted on the transom plate in the rear. I have the motor reinstalled but the alignment is way off, way high in the rear. there are two square nuts that seem to key in with the motor mount plate in the back but the rear seems to be sitting high. Do I need to tighten the underneath of the bolts to that come up through the holes I did not adjust anything when I took the motor out and am now struggling with getting it to seat right. HELP.

Your not missing any spacers under the front motor mounts are you?
Do those square nuts sit up inside the bellhousing slots?
The side flats on those nuts should run parallel to the centerline of the engine, if not the bellhousing will not sit down AROUND the nuts.

The bellhousing is sitting down around the square nuts but the bellhousing seems to be sitting a little higher than before. Do I need to tighten the bolts that come up from under the Transom Plate and thread onto the square bolts and then go up and through the bellhousing. Is the hole were the bolts go through on the transom plate threaded or does this bolt just float.

Thanks

How are you checking the alignment?

Did you tighten the front mounts first? You may have to loosen these.....

Got it all in and aligned. I was fighting an angle with my driveway. Finally wised up and leveled the boat out and it went in like a charm.

Thanks for the tips though.

Did you use an alignment bar to test the alignment?
How that boat sits in the driveway, has absolutely nothing to do with the alignment. If it does. The boat is junk because the wood in it is moving all over the place.

I did check with an alignment bar. It was not the wood moving but me trying to push a very heavy motor back up into the engine bay while the boat was at an incline. Once is was level it was simply a matter of dropping it in place.
